Drawings from Bangladesh – March 2011Posted: August 14, 2011
These drawings are all in situ drawings – i.e drawn on site in the location, not from photographs or memory.
Often I get carried away with the camera and my photographs’ are a big part of my art in the last few years, but the feel of the pen to paper while drawing on location is a different experience. I dont draw enough. The eye often misses so much vivid detail when we use the camera – as our focus is often on one aspect of the subject/object. But when drawing by hand one can immerse themselves fully in the subject. It is a powerful tool for me and often allows me to understand the relationship of the subject/object a lot clearer than when taking a fragmented photograph.
